Travolta is Divine
This

Explains this.

Travolta is playing the lead role in the remake of the cult classic film Hairspray originally written and directed by John Waters. The role of Edna Turnblad, the character which John Travolta is playing was originally played by a transvestite that went by the stage name of Divine. So I guess this makes Travolta a method actor?

Growing up Hollywoodland

When people speak of Hollywood they never refer to it as a place but more as a experience or state of mind. To me Hollywood is not a place, it’s more of a giant lab where social experiments are conducted. The participants are the actors and the researchers are the people who buy gossip magazines and watch reality T.V.

What happened’s when you throw in two young friends and give them a ton of money?
That question has been answered over and over but the most interesting response is Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Damon and Affleck collectively won an Oscar and started in a movie that put them in a position of being stars. Damon went the responsible route and picked his movies carefully and found success both critically and commercially. Affleck on the other hand went into fuck it mode and decided he wanted a bigger paycheck and more booze and women than he could handle. For awhile Affleck was known more for his Las Vegas booze induced comas than for his high strung big budgeted movies in where he shoots the bad guy and saves the world.

Fuck it mode or sensible decisions? What’s better? Which would you choose? Personally I would choose fuck it mode. I mean look at this video. The guy looks like he is having fun groping and fondling this T.V. reporter on national T.V. Sure its Canadian T.V. but it still sort of counts.

The guy looks like he is having a great time. He has millions in the bank, has screwed more woman than my entire High School class combined and has been to rehab twice. Sounds like more fun than I am having.

In Affleck’s latest movie Hollywoodland he co-stars with an Oscar winner instead of a giant explosion. This is Affleck’s supposed come back role. Come back from what? He never went anywhere, he has always been here its just that no one went to go see his movies.

Hollywoodland opens today

you should check it out....I might.

Today's secret word is creepy

Nike in an effort to target the pedophile market has just announced that it will begin manufacturing a sneaker paying homage to the great Pee-Wee Herman. The sneaker resembles Pee-Wee’s trademark grey suit and red bow tie. The insoles depict the famous movie theater incident in where Paul Reubens, the man who played Pee-Wee, was caught masturbating in an adult movie theater.

For some reason I think this sneaker will make walking through sticky movie theaters floors a little more interesting and is sure to guarantee a background check when applying for any job involving children.

What is Nike thinking? I really would like to know. Pee-Wee Herman is now synonymous with child pornography and creepy old pedophiles in bad suits.

Yet for some reason I still want these sneakers….

Maybe that’s what Nike is thinking?

Charles Bukowski is rolling in his grave - Factotum is made into a movie.

Factotum is loosely based on the novel by the same name. I say loosely based because it seems like the screenwriter, who is also the director, decided to just read the cliff notes. My first problem with this movie is Matt Dillon, who plays the lead role of Henry Chinaski. Henry Chinaski is, to put it simply, a drunk who doesn't give a fuck. He drinks all night and lives with a constant hang over that prevents him from keeping a job. Henry Chinaski is trying to find himself as a person and a writer. His sole purpose is to be a writer, not necessarily a good writer, but a writer. At 42, Matt Dillon is too old to play this character. I don't care if he is a Bukowski fan whose life dream was to play Henry Chinaski. He should have thought of that before he turned 30. It is unbelievable that a man his age is still trying to find himself. Even if the director wants to portray this fact as tragic (not sure if this sentence is supposed to be joined with the previous or following sentence). This movie's entire problem is casting. The entire movie was cast about 20 years too old.

Usually, it is fun to watch a novel you really enjoy be turned into a movie, even if at the end you catch yourself saying, " Meh, the book was better." In this case, I felt as though the movie ruined the book for me. Matt Dillon ruined the character of Henry Chinaski.

Netflix Tuesday
The following Dvd’s are this Tuesdays MovieMoron recommended and could be found at your local Bestbuy or other Dvd retailer. In no particular order they are….

1. Lost Season 2

The first season of Lost was infinitely superior to the second season but the second season seems to me as a bridge to a great new storyline coming up for this seasons Lost. Watch and re watch the second season and see if you can predict what season 3 has in store for us. Hopefully J.J. Abrams will pay more attention to the show that made him and icon instead of playing super spy with Tom Cruise

2. Jackass: Movie- Unrated (SE)

Do we really need an unrated version of Jack ass the movie?
Yes. Yes. And Yes.

3. United 93

This is for all those people that couldn’t watch this film in theaters for the fear of sobbing in public.

4. Robin hood: Men in Tights

We're men / We're men in tights / We roam around the forest looking for fights / We're men / We're men in tights / We rob from the rich and give to the poor / That's right! / We may look like sissies / But watch what you say / Or else we'll put out your lights / We're men / We're men in tights / Always on guard / Defending the people's rights / We're men / Manly men! / We're men in tights / Yes! / We roam around the forest looking for fights / We're men / We're men in tights / We rob from the rich and give to the poor / That's right! / We may look like pansies / But don't get us wrong / Or else we'll put out your lights / We're men / We're men in tights / *Tights tights* / Always on guard / Defending the people's rights / When you're in a fix / Just call for the men in tights / We're butch!

5. Brazil- Widescreen dolby

Watch this one over and over. This movie takes me back to a time before Terry Gilliam started sucking.

Steve Irwin was not killed by a Crocodile.
Msn.com reports that Steven Irwin passed away this past weekend. Irwin was diving off the coast of Australia filming a new documentary with his manager and long time friend John Stainton. His death was captured on film and has been reportedly been turned over to the Australian corners office. The video shows Irwin swimming directly above the Sting ray that punctured his chest giving him that fatal blow. Irwin after realizing he had been stung immediately pulled the Sting ray’s tail out and died second afterwards. Irwin was a Television star known mostly for his outlandish stunts involving uncontrolled wildlife scenarios and for being an animal lover and conservationist.
His death does not come as a shock to anyone that has seen any of his movies or his Television show. His T.V. show was not only educational but also entertaining. There was nothing better than watching Irwin climb a tree with exceptional speed and grace while running away from an angry and violent animal that he has just poked with a stick all while yelling out his trademark catchphrase of “crikey!”. Irwin in the past has been lumped into the category with other adrenaline junkies such as the characters from the MTV T.V. show Jackass.

Irwin has been out of the limelight for the past couple of years and had not really been heard of in the United States since being panned by critics for putting his then one month old son within reach of a live crocodile. One could only speculate that Irwin was filming this new documentary to give a boost to his career. Whatever the case may be he will be remembered for entertaining and educating people on different kinds of wild life and for his crazy stunts. In my opinion I think it is just a matter of time before one of the guys from the Jackass team also goes in a blaze of underwater glory.

Weekend Box Office Report

Here is this week's box office report courtesy of Boxofficemojo.com.

Surprisingly Invincible stayed on top with $12.1 million. My money was on Crank to take the top spot. Apparently people would rather see a sappy football story than a movie staring Turkish. This year’s summer sleeper Little Miss Sunshine is doing better than predicted taking $7 million at the box office this weekend. The entire budget for little Miss Sunshine was $8 million so at this point the producers are just printing their own money. Will Ferrell's NASCAR movie is still in the top 10 with $6 million and the dancing movie step up rounds out the top ten taking in $4 million.
