I am going to try this once and if it works out then I am going to make it a feature every Friday.
I am going to try and predict this weekend’s box office on a Friday.
My only fear is that this feature is going to fall flat on its face and I will be humiliated on Monday when all of my predictions turn out to be completely wrong.
The only reason I am putting this movie on top is only because it is opening in the most theaters. By no means do I think this is going to be the best movie this week. I am actually going to avoid this as long as possible. Maybe one day I will catch it on HBO on a Sunday when I will be too hung over to move from the couch.
Have you noticed that Hollywood only has two or three good ideas at once? First there was Hollywoodland and now this. How many whodunit Hollywood murder movies do we need a year? Especially opening within a week from each other. It’s great how this movie is being marketed as the movie from the same guy who directed Scarface. Yea, Brain De Palma also directed Snake Eyes.
These type of computer based animated movies just aren’t the great money makers they used to be. In my opinion I think Hollywood has fucked up with these. Pixar didn’t make all the money because their animation was done using computers…Nope, its because their movies were simply great. Great dialogue, actual storylines, and characters that made you care whether they lived or died. Everyone’s Hero is just riding the CGI wave that will soon come crashing down. It is still going to come in the top 5 only because kids will watch anything and parents will do anything to stop them from crying.
When I first saw the trailer for this movie I thought ...”Great another guy falls for quirky funny girl instead of going for the safe, boring, hot girl, type movie” Then once I read that it was written by Paul Haggis, I thought to myself this could be good. I really doubt it. Still kids who loved Garden State are going to want to watch this.
Ben Affleck won an award for this and there are talks about Oscars being handed around for everyone involved in this movie. Meh, I might see it. Personally I would rather watch The Black Dahlia.
Great movie. I haven’t laughed out loud during a movie in a really long time. This movie is so great it’s making all of its money through word of mouth advertising. Dayton-Faris made a great transition from Music Videos to Feature length movies. Watch this now. Believe the hype this isn’t Snakes on a plane hype. This is actually good.
Sappy Football movie where Mark Wahlberg goes from being a bartender to a pro football player in just 120 minutes. This movie is specifically for all those ex jocks who still talk about their high school football days…
Vince Vaughn has recently graduated to A-list status. His lines from his movies are the most quoted at Frat parties and he has traded up from Jon Favreau to Jennifer Aniston as his on and off screen co-star.
Now for your question:
In which movie did Vince Vaughn NOT make an appearance in?
A. Rudy B. Something about Mary C. Starsky and Hutch

After watching the trailer to Masters of the Universe I couldn’t figure out what I had just watched. I kept asking myself what is this?
See, the thing is I had forgotten about a time when comic book movies just plain sucked. When only B- list actors on their way out of the spot light were the only ones who made geek themed movies. Geek themed movies filled with bad costumes and even worse acting.
Kids nowadays are just plain spoiled. They get the comic book movies full of hot chicks in tight outfits with great CGI effects and actual storylines. X-men: The Last Stand grossed over $400 million world wide and had a cast full of A-list actors and even an Oscar winner.
But see…we had Dolph Lundgren.
And well Dolph Lundgren rules.
He played such memorable characters such as Drago, the symbol of communist oppression and he gave us such great lines as
This is something new I am going to try. I am going to post a retro movie trailer every day. So come back tomorrow and see what old school movie trailer I can pull up!

I know that in order to keep you the reader coming back every day I am going to have to give you an incentive.
In theory, entertainment should be your only incentive for reading this blog.
Unfortunately and apparently that is not the case.
Every day I am going to have daily trivia on this blog and the first 5 people who e-mail me with the correct answer will be put into a drawing for a prize. The prize will usually come from one of our sponsors and it will be daily.
I figured you should be compensated for reading my ramblings.
Hopefully after a couple of weeks of intensive creative writing workshops the content alone will become incentive enough for you to come back every day. Until then the prizes will have to do.
Todays Daily trivia question is:
John Hughes was the king of the 80’s. Name 5 of John Hughe's films that he directed.

I was late on the Office bandwagon. I had heard about the success of the British version but for some reason I didn’t feel the need to watch an Americanized Office remake. Plus I was too busy watching Arrested Development. After the people at Fox finished fucking themselves by canceling Arrested Development and with the help of Tivo, I decided to give the Office a try. The Office became my methadone to my Arrested Development fix.
In the desert scene, where Beavis and Butthead hallucinate, voices are heard in the background. When the soundtrack is played backwards, Beavis and Butthead are heard speaking clearly, including phrases such as "Everybody go to college, study hard, study hard."
I just don’t get the appeal of this show. From what I understand the basic premise is Superman meets Dawson’s creek. The only reason I am recommending this is because nothing really came out today. So go buy this and enjoy watching Superman battle all the evils high school has to offer.
