| Title | Weekend Gross | Total Gross | | Open Season | $23,000,000 | $23,000,000 | | The Guardian | $17,667,000 | $17,667,000 | | Jackass : Number Two | $14,010,000 | $51,452,000 | | School For Scoundrels | $9,109,000 | $9,109,000 | | Jet Li’s Fearless | $4,702,000 | $17,785,000 | | Gridiron Gang | $4,500,000 | $33,177,000 | | The Illusionist | $2,845,000 | $31,488,000 | | Flyboy’s | $2,320,000 | $9,915,000 | | The Black Dahlia | $2,069,000 | $20,683,000 | | Little Miss Sunshine | $2,020,000 | $53,162,000 | Open Season topped the box office this past weekend which surprised me. I actually thought this was going to sit at the number 4 spot for the weekend. Another huge surprise is School of Scoundrels. Looks like Todd Phillip’s hot streak is over. School of Scoundrels opened with a pathetic $9 Million. Jackass: Number Two is still going strong. It has made 6 pain junkies very rich men. I feel I could say with a certain degree of certainty that Jackass 3 will be made and one of them will die. And with any luck the footage won’t be cut out of the movie. The biggest tank of the week goes to a movie about airplanes. Flyboy’s has only made $9 Million in two weeks. With a production budget of over $60 Million and a marketing budget of $25-30 Million it seems as though someone at MGM will get fired for green lighting this disaster. Who the hell thought that James Franco could open a big budget movie? Heads need to roll. And once again the little engine that could Little Miss Sunshine has managed to stay in the top 10 again this week. Little Miss Sunshine has grossed over $50 Million. Who ever financed this little movie is making the big bucks. Oh yeah, The Guardian managed to clinch the second spot in this weeks top 10. I was really rooting for it to be another The Postman for Kevin Costner. Click on any of the movie titles to watch the trailer.
