Grindhouse is a collaborative feature film from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. In my personal opinion Tarantino and Rodriguez are this generations most innovative and most entertaining film makers today.
Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino could not be more different.
Yet they are both visionaries in their own right whose work greatly influences one another.
Their films aren't overly complex and meant to win academy awards. Their films are meant to entertain the viewer and fill the seats at the movie theaters.
They don't cater to critics or the Academy.
They just focus on what is fun at the movie theater.
Gore, blood, violence and assassins with guns for legs. That's what Grindhouse is all about.
They have done the unthinkable in modern day cinema. They have composed to full length feature films and are going to release them as one.
That’s double the budget. Double the time. With only half the price.
I could not tell you how excited I am about this movie. Even the trailer gave me goose bumps.
When you watch a Quentin Tarantino film you don't just get one directors vision. You get a library of films swimming around Tarantino’s head all at once. Tarantino is the master of genre bending and exploitation. His movies are college courses in film and teach more than just the essentials, they teach the art of film making.
Some directors who have mastered their craft seem compelled to make films so convoluted and artsy that they come off as pretentious.
With Tarantino you get gushers of blood and gore and dialogue that could cut through steel all wrapped neatly into a story that not only entertains but engulfs the viewer. Rodriguez isn’t too bad himself. Now watch the trailer. And enjoy. |
