The question now is will it hurt him at the Oscars? I haven’t seen Apocalypto but I really want to. I read an article at http://www.jewishjournal.com/home/preview.php?id=16935 explaining how you could see Mel’s Apocalypto guilt free. I think I am going to follow the advice of this internet columnist and pay for Unaccompanied Minors but sneak into Apocalypto. The production budget for Apocalypto was in the $40 million range and I am guessing the advertising budget was near the $20 million range which means Apocalypto will see a profit after earning $15 million this past weekend. Good for Mr. Gibson, the guy might be a drunken racist fool but he makes damn good movies…..Well except for the Passion of the Christ…That was dreadfully boring and painful to watch. Happy Feet continues its reign of terror at the box office gathering up $12 million this past weekend. The PSA disguised as an animated feature film is turning into a huge cash cow for Warner Brothers animation division. If you have seen this and have no children you should be ashamed of yourself. The producers of The Holiday are probably really pissed that their expensive star powered film lost out to a penguin movie and a movie where no one speaks any English. The Holiday only made $12 million which was probably what they paid Cameron Diaz to show up to work every day. Jack Black should ashamed of himself for being associated with this movie. The Blood Diamond bombed proving once and for all the Leonardo Dicaprio does not have as much box office pull as everyone thinks he does. Kid is a great actor but he can not put people in the seats. Sucks. No shame in this movie… Santa Clause 3 is holding onto the top 10 with all its Christmas might edging Borat out. Santa Clause 3 made $3 million while Borat made $2.5 Million. The Tim Allen franchise is successful enough that we should expect the Santa Clause 4 next year… Even if it is direct to DVD. There was a lot of shame given out in this post. I must not be in the Christmas spirit. |
